Tips for Happier, Healthier Holidays

Despite all the cheer and goodwill that the holidays are supposed to bring, for many people, they also bring quite a bit of stress. Hosting duties, buying gifts, and interacting with family and friends can all add additional stress to the already hectic pace of everyday life. Finding small ways to manage your stress, like going for a walk or squeezing in a few minutes of mindful meditation, can make a big difference. Even things like taking a hot bath, having a cup of tea, or just taking a few minutes to breathe can help you calm down and prevent any stress cravings for sweets that may undo the hard work of keeping yourself healthy. While the stress of the holidays can make it hard to avoid overeating at festive occasions, eating rich, fattening, and sugary foods can actually make you feel more stressed.
