Maintaining a healthy vitamin intake is like walking a tightrope: put too much weight in either direction and you’ll fall. While vitamins are incredibly important, and getting enough of them should be a priority for your health, you should not underestimate the dangers of consuming too many vitamins. Not consuming enough vitamin A can result in an assortment of symptoms, including hormone deficiency and problems with vision and immune function. Vitamin A deficiency even has the potential to lower your sex drive. But consuming too much vitamin A can create problems as well, including deficiency in other hormones and even reproductive complications. Part of the difficulty with balancing your vitamin tightrope is that supplements, while a good way to get enough vitamins if you are deficient, can deliver too many vitamins or deliver them in the wrong way, which can lead to excess intake and a variety of serious health concerns.
