Warning Signs of Andropause... and What to Do About It

Insomnia, night sweats, fatigue, lowered libido—these are more than just the symptoms that women may experience while they are going through menopause. These symptoms are also characteristic of men who are going through andropause. Like menopause, andropause occurs because of an age-related decline in hormone levels. For men, a drop in testosterone levels can cause symptoms that are at times remarkably similar to those experienced by women during menopause. Andropause is sometimes jokingly referred to as “male menopause” because it affects men of a certain age. Yet andropause is all too real. It can affect relationships, physical health, and many other aspects of healthy living. But there is hope. Having a healthy lifestyle, including eating right and working out, can limit the scope of symptoms that you’ll likely experience.
